Problem Statement
FirstEnergy currently use the Vocus Flight Risk Assessment Tool (FRAT) for fixed-wing operations via PFM. However, helicopter operations (managed in Flight Vector) lack this integration, resulting in a fragmented risk assessment process. This forces them to rely on manual FRATs, limiting the ability to plan proactively and maintain consistency across operations.
Desired Outcome
We’d like to integrate Flight Vector with the Vocus platform to:
Automatically generate flight risk assessments from scheduled and duty data
Enable scenario planning (pre-trip risk previews)
Replace current manual FRAT with a rules-driven, automated process
Maintain compliance with FARs and FE’s internal Flight Operations Manual
Key Requirements
Data Sync: Flight schedules, duty events, aircraft info, and user profiles
Risk Engine Integration: Push data to Vocus API
Custom Rule Sets: Import and configure rules based on FE ops manual
Scenario Planning: Run risk assessments on planned (not just confirmed) flights
UI Support: View risk assessments directly within Flight Vector
Support for Custom Airfields used in rotorcraft operations
Open Questions
Should risk assessments be embedded in Flight Vector or accessed externally?
What specific data fields are needed for full assessment accuracy?
How will rule set creation and updates be handled?
What are the mobile access options for flight crews?
Next Steps
Flight Vector team to review Vocus API documentation
Vocus to provide test credentials and provision a test environment
The integration request has been moved over to the Complete Flight workspace. https://vellox.ideas.aha.io/ideas/CF2-I-3
Hello. VOCUS would actually be an integration with Complete Flight rather than the Flight Vector specific products. I will copy the details of this ticket and create it in the Complete Flight space and then cancel this ticket.
Thanks, Susan
