Enable a recency item to update a child item

Currently in recency setup we can check a box for that recency to "Update Parent item (cascading)", this works great for type specific items. Could we also have the option to check a box for that recency to "Update child items". For majority of our Non type specific recency items the parent item is the overriding item and if conducted satisfies it's child items.
