I was wondering whether it is possible to have the duty extension report automatically open once the hours have been inputted by the pilot. At the moment, they tick a box which opens the report, but at times, this is missed and then the data is not captured.
If the commencement of standby/reserve vs the start of the flight duty period is 4 hours or less, FDP is 12 hours. Thus anything more than that would need to have an extension report. Greater than 4 up t and including 9 hours into the standby period the FDP is 11 hours before requiring an extension report and more than 9 hours, a 10 hour duty limit before an extension report is needed.
So the system would need to know the standby/reserve start time and then calculate the normal FDP hours based on the actual start time and then compare it with the end time. If it falls into the parameters above then the duty extension report would automatically open (and save that an extension occurred even if no data was entered into the report) for the rest of the details to be completed by the pilot.
I hope that makes sense.
